Job Requirements & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Examine blueprints, layouts and written project requirements
  • Measure, mark and cut lumber or other construction materials
  • Build structural assemblies using suitable tools and fastening techniques
  • Perform framing, rough carpentry or finish work according to the assigned position
  • Keep tools, materials and workspaces organized throughout the day
  • Evaluate field conditions and correct installation or alignment problems

Skills:

  • Ability to understand construction drawings, dimensions and crew instructions
  • Accurate measuring, cutting and assembly of building materials
  • Ability to make practical decisions when project conditions change
  • Productive communication with supervisors, crew members and other trades

Qualifications:

  • Dependable attendance and a consistent approach to assigned work
  • Interest in learning new carpentry techniques and construction procedures

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED
